Relics of the Lord Jesus Christ

From Rejoice in the Catholic Faith

A Relic is an object or body part from or associated with a Saint. Christ rose from the dead with his body, so he left no body remnants . However, he did leave remnants of his life and presence from during the Passion.

These include either whole or in part:

  • The pillar to which he was bound while being scourged
  • The crown of thorns thrust upon his head
  • The stairwell he climbed with Pilate to be shown to the crowd after the scourging
  • The veil with which Veronica wiped his face along the Via Dolorosa
  • The cross upon which he was crucified
  • The nails which fastened his hands and feet to the cross
  • The shroud in which he was buried
